Architectural Design Manager - Schools & Hospitals

Our multi-national Engineering consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Architectural Design Manager to join their team in Doha, Qatar. Successful candidates will have extensive Architectural Design Management experience on large scale PPP projects including Education & Healthcare facilities.


This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent employment opportunity.


Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Technical Lead and the CMU Lead, the Architectural Design Manager shall be responsible for coordinating and managing the architectural design review activities to ensure that targets are being met and progress is being delivered for the PPPAs;
  • Provide architectural design support related to the Projects;
  • Review and ensure that design principles are incorporated and applied. 
  • Coordinates design review at various phases of the project on a day-to-day basis;
  • Oversees performance of the design review team(s) and reviews the reviewable architectural design data to ensure that all specifications and regulations are being followed;
  • Reviews comments received from the design review team(s) to ensure that those are appropriate and relevant;
  • Follows-up with the design review team(s) and other stakeholders to ensure that the PWA and Contracting Authorities issue non-objections to the Project Companies within the contractual timeframes;
  • Provides regular progress reports and elevates issues to the Authority;
  • Provides recommendation to the Engineer on the list of all deviations from the output specifications cited in the PPPAs;
  • Reviews and comments on submissions to Statutory Authorities in order to assist the Project Companies in obtaining necessary permits and permissions;
  • Reviews and recommends Non-Objection for the Design Management Plans prepared and submitted by the Project Companies;
  • Monitors and facilitates Contracting Authorities’ and the PWA’s compliance with their obligations relating to the PPPAs;
  • Provides support to the CMU team on design matters;
  • Elevates issues to the Technical Lead, CMU Lead and the Engineer.


Architectural Design Manager Requirements:

  • Minimum of 14 years’ experience post graduation with experience in architectural design review of PPP projects or major design and build building projects or programmes;
  • Experience on schools, primary healthcare projects and / or car parking projects;
  • Experienced and technically excellent in design coordination;
  • Desirable to have experience of working with government agencies and clients, generally at a senior level;
  • In-depth knowledge and demonstrable track record in design review of output specifications driven design and build developmental projects;
  • A “rounded profile”, with experience of working in multidisciplinary technical teams
  • University degree from a recognised university in an appropriate field such as Architecture or equivalent;
  • Experience of working on PPP projects or output driven design and build developmental projects;
  • Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken.
  • Experience of working in Qatar and / or the Gulf region.
