Associate Director - Pre Contract Commercial & Cost - PMC

Our Global Project Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Chartered Associate Director of pre contract Commercial & Cost to join their team in Abu Dhabi to lead the pre contract commercial team working on major civil construction projects in the GCC. Successful candidates will have full MRICs chartered status coupled with a proven background as a pre contract commercial lead with a recognised PM or Cost consultancy company background.


This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity employed with our client.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-contract commercial support (POMI and FIDIC);
  • Management of bonds, insurances and guarantee logs;
  • Cost Planning
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on project cost management, contract administration, and risk assessment to ensure project delivery is within budget and meets financial compliance requirements, with particular emphasis on Fit-out and MEP packages
  • Develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure that the project budget is aligned with the project requirements
  • Monitor and report on project costs and variations, including the management of project change control procedures
  • Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of the construction industry, including cost trends and best practices
  • Project Cost Plan and Budget services (direct, indirect, margins, markups and overheads).
  • Feasibility studies (cost per key, cost per m2 etc.);
  • Cost Planning and estimating (BCIS and NRM1);
  • Value Engineering, cash flow forecasts, Whole Life Costing, cost risk management;
  • Bills of Quantities production (NRM 2, POMI and CESSM3);
  • Tender services including compilation, tender analysis, negotiations and recommendations;
  • Contract drafting (FIDIC).
  • Assisting in risk and value management and cost control functions;
  • Assisting in costs analysis project work;
  • Assisting in identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;
  • Assisting in preparation of progress/ cost reports;
  • Reporting to Commercial Director on all commercial issues;
  • Attendance and representation at commercial meetings.


Associate Director - Pre Contract Commercial & Cost Experience:

  • BSC in Quantity Surveying from a recognised institution preferred
  • Full MRICS status is required for this role
  • Experience in major civil construction projects in a recognised consultancy or PMC company is a must;
  • Minimum of 10-12 years’ post graduation experience;
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ UAE, experience in a recognised cost consultant or PMC Company
  • Project experience must be broad and include Residential, Hospitality, Leisure and Infrastructure;
  • Must have previous experience of FIDIC Contracts;
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
  • Possess good project background and proven English language technical writing ability and skills
