Business Development Director - PMC

Our Multi-National Project & Commercial Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced consultant Business Development Director to join their team in Dubai, UAE. Successful candidates will have a proven background in leading the Business Development function for a Consultancy or PMC business with a proven track record of delivering project wins in the UAE and the wider GCC.
This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a Business Development Strategy / Plan, encompassing all the activities that are required under a business development role and Business Development department. This is to be agreed and signed off by the CEO and COO prior to implementation
- Market Research. Conduct extensive market research into target clients, individuals, and sectors.
- Internal Communication. Liaise closely with other individuals / teams within the wider business to identify and record all potential BD targets. Develop and maintain a tracker document for discussion with management on the suitability of identified targets
- Keep up to date with market-specific media (trade publications/news sites/industry press releases to identify trends within the market or key players that are active in target markets
- Develop a professional relationship with existing clients at a senior level within their organization, alongside your line manager.
- Develop a potential rating system for existing clients based on current workload, projects size and fee income (Dashboard identifying key metrics quarterly).
- Interface with the Operations team for client feedback and manage the formal client feedback process as identified in ISO Certification.
- Develop a master client database; by maintaining a list of all clients worked with and reach out to colleagues for an end of project summary review, and line of communication regarding feedback on clients and second tier subconsultants / relationships.
- Monitor existing clients to identify where further business development or networking / entertaining could be beneficial to the company's performance.
- Develop and maintain a monthly dashboard with all client activity identified, together with upcoming activity and any assistance required from management.
- Research companies we are submitting bids to. Identify synergies, develop a strategy for increasing value add to the client and help tailor proposal towards target audience.
- Maintain a master client database with specific focus on growing the contact list over time
- Pro-actively manage the senior leadership team in confirming the suitability of potential clients identified through market research.
- Organise a weekly Business Development session with key stakeholders within the business. Document key decisions and outcomes.
- Maintain a weekly BD tracker/dashboard. To include a snapshot of all BD activity undertaken during the previous 7 days, plus a forward-looking view of activity expected in the coming period.
- Provide a month-end BD report, to include all BD activity, networking events, and budget allocation/spending.
- Leads the Business Development team providing guidance, support, and opportunities for their development. Ensuring the team is aware of the KPIs, and priorities and that a professional service is always practiced.
Bid management and Submissions
- Directly manage the bid management team and lead the complete bidding process from initial enquiry to tender close / evaluation.
- Take ownership for the completion and submission of any Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQ) and any potential client requests for information
- Develop a strategy alongside the bid management team on client follow-up on bids submitted to keep the relationship alive.
- Follow up on all bids submitted until resolved (Contract awarded or bid lost).
- Develop and maintain a Business Development Strategy for implementation in the current financial year.
Business Development Director - PMC - Experience:
- Proven track record of work winning and business development within a recognised Project Management or Commercial Consultancy environment
- Good network in the UAE and wider GCC for business development
- Capable of leading bidding strategies and potential partnerships in the market
- Leadership and management skills
- Risk management
- Communication & stakeholder engagement skills
- Aware about strategic & alignment management
- Decision making and prioritization skills
- Excellent written, oral, presentation, and graphic communication skills
- Familiar with PMI standards
