Claims Manager - Consultancy - 6 Month Contract

Our International Project Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced consultant Claims Manager to join their team in Doha, Qatar to work on a high profile project in the State of Qatar. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Claims Manager on large scale civil construction projects in Qatar and the wider GCC and have worked for recognised PMC or Consultancy companies previously. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in significant projects such as Airports, Stadiums etc


This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 6 month contract position as an outsourced candidate employed by J10 Consulting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Participates in Division, Company, and Corporate strategic planning activities for specific projects (e.g., contract administration processes including preparation of claims, dispute resolution and arbitration proceedings, etc.).
  • Provides contractual guidance to assigned personnel, and ensures proficiency and timeliness of contract administration. Hires, offers personnel development, conducts performance evaluations, counsels, takes corrective action as required, and approves terminations. Ensures that new employees receive orientation in company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with Division and project management to ensure proper support in proposal preparation, as well as contract negotiations and administration.
  • Reviews requests for proposals to identify risks and contractual terms not conforming to Company policy.
  • Negotiates the more difficult, complex, or sensitive issues with clients.
  • May represent the Company at government procurement regulatory and policymaking committee hearings and at industry association committees dealing with Federal Procurement Policy initiatives that will have an impact on the industry.
  • Maintains an active participation in related professional societies to keep abreast of relevant contractual issues.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.


Claims Manager Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Quantity Surveying with suitable contractual, legal or commercial background
  • Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) preferred
  • 12-15+ years of post-qualification experience in a similar capacity Typically 12+ years of prime contract claims preparation, dispute resolution and contract administration experience within a large international engineering and construction firm is required
  • Demonstrable expertise in Contracts Administration for high value contracts
  • Good knowledge and experience in FIDIC Contracts
  • Proficient in MS Applications, particularly Excel / Word / PowerPoint / Outlook.
  • Well versed in contracts / agreements: principles, theory and application, terminology and development as well as practices and procedures
  • Experience with claims management and arbitration support
  • Ethical, credible, and commercially astute
  • Able to work independently and work under pressure
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritise work with target-oriented approach
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written
