Commercial Director - PM/CM Consultancy

Our Multi National Projects & Commercial Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced consultant Commercial Director to join their team in Riyadh, KSA for high profile new projects in the Kingdom. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Commercial Director on Hospitality, Commercial, Retail and Leisure build, fit out and refurbishment projects with a recognised PM or Cost consultancy company background. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, MRICS would be highly advantageous.


This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.


Key Responsibilities:

  • The Commercial Director has a key role in optimising the sustainable commercial success of the business through successfully managing risk and exploiting opportunities. The Commercial Director will provide support and guidance to the clients Project Director (PD), Project Managers (PM) and Heads of Discipline.
  • The role requires the coordination of all commercial matters (both internal and externally facing) involved in effectively managing the success of the clients projects.
  • Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies
  • Ensure the right resources are utilised effectively at the right time across their team and projects.
  • Support the leadership of recruitment and selection strategies
  • Contribute to succession planning and career development across their team
  • Support the development and delivery of training and awareness session as required
  • Contribute to the development and drive the implementation of the business unit (BU) strategy
  • Provide project and team updates for the development of the Leadership Teams monthly reporting.
  • Attend and contribute to quarterly senior management meetings
  • Attend and lead team and project meetings, cascade relevant information and encourage feedback from team
  • Contribute to the setting and delivering P&L BU budget and forecasts
  • Engage with peer group and contribute to industry events and associations
  • Lead by example and ensure QMS and Project lifecycle compliance across their team and projects
  • Provide leadership and guidance on the companies approach to Sustainability and ensure that the Sustainability strategy is implemented within the BU
  • Ensure all external sub consultants have signed mutually acceptable contracts before commencing work for the client
  • Review all opportunities for additional fees recorded by the relevant PD, PM and assist in the submission to the Client
  • Ensure all PMs are accurately reflecting progress made in month and forecasting income inline with the latest and best information available at the time of completion
  • Assist PDs and PMs to ensure full understanding of the projects commercial standing through review of project reporting, including data and reports from other companies and organisations
  • Ensure working capital reports reflect the latest information available and that all actions are completed on a monthly basis by relevant PD
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and reconciliations as required by PDs and PMs
  • Maximise positive project cash flow through highlighting invoicing opportunities and provide proactive support in the collection of outstanding invoices
  • Represent client in Client meetings on Commercial matters
  • Co-ordination of other Commercial Managers to ensure that key tasks are achieved throughout the monthly timetable
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of training material to the business
  • Highlight areas for improvement and initiate, develop and lead the developments of solutions to progress the team and the level of service to the business


Commercial Director Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Quantity Surveying or similar relevant subject with a suitable background in contractual, legal or commercial
  • Minimum 15 years post graduate experience
  • MRICS membership is preferred
  • Previous Middle East experience is essential
  • Project Management / Commercial Management consultancy experience is essential
