Contracts Manager - FM, Fit Out & Construction

Our Regional Property Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Contracts Manager to join their team in Abu Dhabi to work on projects throughout the UAE. Successful candidates will have extensive Contract & Procurement management experience with consultancy or developer background experience on FM, Fit Out & Construction Projects.
This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity, employed directly by our client.
Responsibilities:
- Review and validate RFP.
- Drafts the contract documentation to issue at tender and answers RFI (requests for information) throughout the tender phase.
- Manages the tender phase of the project providing detailed tender reporting and recommendations in order to prepare the formal contract and initial letter of award for authorized signatory, once the approvals have been given.
- Support the Operation team and Procurement team during the Tendering phase including the legal negotiation and execution of the project contract documentation to ensure the best quality suppliers, at the under the most advantageous contract terms, according to the tendering process.
- Contractual Responsibilities: Once the commercial deal is struck by Procurement, the contract documents are then negotiated from a legal perspective to give the most advantageous terms possible and then executed.
- The Contract Manager will prepare all notices, under the contract, in co-ordination with the person in charge of each contract or project, and act as the responsible person for all contract matters on the contract/project.
- The Contract Manager will arrange the preparation of regular reports on the contracts/projects status and is responsible for the recording of the payments done to the contractors, to ensure payment is paid in accordance with the contract documents.
- The Contract Manager will be responsible for management of the bonds provided under the contract, all insurances required by the contract and advise the Operation team about how the contract can be utilized to ensure a high quality output.
- Ensures that the necessary documentations are issued in conjunction with the contract and that the necessary certificates are issued under the contract.
- The Contract Manager will be responsible for the claim management as well as negotiation of the final account for the project.
- Support the Operation team in the identification / evaluation / maintenance and mitigation of risk through the risk register in order to manage risks on an ongoing basis.
- To be the lead person responsible to prepare bid documents for new contracts to win new business and to represent the company in technical negotiations or, if required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Direct Manager.
Contracts Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a Master in laws in Arbitration
- Construction Law or Bachelor’s Degree in Law with a Master in Construction Law or FIDIC
- Minimum 10 years work experience, 5 of which as Contract Manager – preferable with experience in a Consultancy background ideally with some contractor experience and Minimum 3 years work experience in the Middle East preferable UAE, preferably on large, complex and high value projects with VVIP Clients
- Experience in contract with international consultants.
- Strong FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) contract knowledge with demonstrable Contract Management experience in pre and post contract situations and ability to demonstrate that has experience to implement a new suite of contracts for all activities; consultancy, construction (traditional and design and build), as well as the negotiation of bespoke contracts as may be necessary.
- Knowledge of contract procedure, cost modelling, methods of measurement, estimating procedures
- Knowledge of market conditions – pricing, contractors’ reputation, availability and cost of labor
- Knowledge and demonstrable experience of alternative dispute resolution techniques
