Cost Engineer (Lighting) - Contractor

Our Specialist Lighting Contracting client has a new requirement for a well experienced Cost Engineer experienced in lighting pre & post contract works to join their team in Dubai, UAE. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Cost Engineer for lighting projects on commercial, hospitality and office space interior projects and contracts in the UAE and have worked for recognised lighting / MEP contractors in the UAE.

This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity employed by our client.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Cost and Estimation Engineer in the lighting industry, you will play a key role in the financial planning and execution of lighting projects. You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, developing competitive bids, and ensuring the cost-effectiveness of engineering solutions. Your role will involve detailed analysis of project specifications, close collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the creation of comprehensive cost breakdowns.

• Analyze project plans, technical specifications, and requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Develop and submit accurate and competitive project bids and proposals.
• Identify and assess cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor.
• Collaborate with engineering, sales, procurement, and project management teams to gather required inputs and insights.
• Monitor project expenditures and budgets throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment with cost projections.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and value engineering without compromising quality or performance.
• Maintain and update a database of suppliers, pricing, and historical cost information for future reference.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and ensure competitive pricing.
• Assist in the design phase to ensure cost-effective and practical lighting solutions are implemented.
• Support procurement by recommending optimal vendors and negotiating cost-effective purchasing options.
• Prepare and present cost reports, estimates, and risk assessments to internal stakeholders and clients.

Cost Engineer (Lighting) Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in pre and post contract commercial cost engineering with at least 1-2 years in lighting,
• Strong understanding of lighting systems, electrical components, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in estimation software, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
