Design Coordinator (5* High Rise Hotel) - Main Contractor

Our Tier 1 Civil Contracting client has a new requirement for a seasoned Design Coordinator to join their team in Ras Al Khaimah at prestigious new project in the Emirate. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Design Coordinator on major 5* Hospitality and High Rise projects in the UAE and have worked in the capacity of Design Coordinator for a major 5* high rise hotel.


This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity employed by our client.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review Tender & IFC information model issued by consultants (2D drawings, BIM models & asset data) as per ISO19650.
  • Ability to integrate competing and/or conflicting elements into the planning and execution processes so that project requirements flow smoothly.
  • Lead and supervise the teams responsible for design of major components and provide guidance as needed during the design and construction supervision stages to ensure the adherence to the contract documents and established project's objectives
  • Manage the Civil /Structure/Architecture/ Infrastructure Deliverables during the design and construction supervision stages to ensure the adherence to the contract documents and established project's objectives.
  • Supports the design manager with the establishment of Project Design Management Plan, Project Execution Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, submittal planning and other documents as required.
  • Ensure that engineering strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives for the Pre-construction, Construction as well as Post construction phase.
  • Coordinate multi discipline info and ensure liaise with all parties. Ability to foresee constraints and act.
  • Prepare and raise RFIs & CVIs. Ensure the response clarity on the queries raised.
  • Assist the Design Manager in the management of Subcontractor works and point out any technical deviation.
  • To be responsible for ensuring the modeler/draughtsman have the correct information for updating the shop drawings. Ensure document submittals are completed in a timely manner.
  • Delegating and Reviewing Design team assignments.
  • Ensuring BIM management is integral to the programme and ongoing.
  • Ensure quality of information received from other parties.
  • Ensure drawing production as per plan and distribution to all relevant parties.
  • Host & coordinate technical meetings / design workshops.
  • Coordinate project activities with Subcontractors and monitors the performance and report to DM.
  • Support the Design team in sub-contractor coordination process.
  • Ability to review & do follow up on DFC, EI or DCR.
  • Reviews direct work/Subcontractor's shop drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and contract.
  • Track and maintain up to date drawing delivery schedule. To ensure all work is passed to the document controller for publishing.
  • Liaise with consultants and ensure approval of drawings/documents.
  • Aware of Specification requirements & contract.
  • Liaise with the Planning Department to update the working program.
  • Support the process of design abortive works claims due to IFC changes.
  • Understand details & support Value Engineering process.
  • Support & ensure as-built/redline process. Collect the information for as built drawings, passing it to the modeler to complete the detailed drawing, then checking the details to ensure they are accurate


Design Coordinator Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture
  • 5+ years experience in the capacity of Design Coordinator /Arch Coordinator Snr role with Main Contractor / Sub Contractor
  • Engineering / Design calculations
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD & MS Office
  • BIM principles & Basic awareness
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
  • Able to work in BIM environment
  • Excellent written, visualization and spoken English
  • Ability to review in Revit/ Revizto/ Navisworks
