Design Manager (Data Centres) - Consultancy

Our Multi National Project Management Consultant client has a new requirement for a well experienced Data Centre Design Manager to join their team in Dubai to work on a developments in the Emirates & the UK. Successful candidates will have a proven background of full life cycle design management of projects from feasibility to handover on Data Centre or MCF projects in the UAE and / or the UK. Candidates must have worked for a recognised Project management or architectural and design consultancy client as a Design Manager

This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity employed by our client.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading a team of multi-disciplinary sub-consultants to design and deliver the project. 
• Full project life-cycle design management including design deliverables, participation in tender, contractor submission reviews, site supervision.
• This is a Design Management role and candidates should have demonstrable skills in developing and coordinating design solutions
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, multi discipline sub-consultant, D&B contractors and construction supervision management
• Overseeing contractors design development and managing the design guardianship ensuring design intent is delivered.
• Coordination and management of multi disciplinary sub consultants including and not limited to Facade, structures, MEP & external works
• Managing and stewarding projects risks and key milestones to company & stakeholders on regular basis
• Review design documents throughout the different project stages to make sure the design intent is well maintained up to construction and handover
• Contractor and consultancy submission reviews,
• Interface with the Commercial Management team to procure different services
• Participate in establishing and implementing the Project Management Plan and or Design Implementation Plan and procedures
• Monitoring the material submission RFIs replies during the construction phases in coordination with the construction team to ensure applying the primary design intent.
• Oversee the implementation of design quality assurance Value Engineering as well as completeness of design documents throughout all phases up to Construction Documents in coordination with local international consultants
• Attend or chair meetings and or workshops with stakeholders, consultants and contractors, review meeting minutes and follow up to achieve identified actions
• Organize manage design review meetings workshops and reports during design phases

Design Manager (Data Centres) Experience:

• Professional degree in Design with 10+ years of total experience
• At least 2 full life cycle data centre or mission critical facility (MCF) projects in the portfolio
• Capable of communicating with Clients, and Contractors on large and complex projects.
• Able to manage full coordination between multiple disciplines and subconsultants in different locations.
• Base build & strong technical/engineering projects experience is essential,
• Pre-contract experience is essential - data centre experience is a plus
• Strong client-facing stakeholder engagement skills including presentations & leading meetings.
