Our Multi National Project Management Consultant client has a new requirement for a well experienced Design Project Manager to join their team in Abu Dhabi to work on prestigious new build and refurbishment hospitality projects in the Emirates. Successful candidates will have a proven background of driving projects design intent as a Design Project Manager on hospitality projects in the UAE. Candidates must have worked for a recognised Project management or architectural and design consultancy client as a Senior Architectural / Design Project Manager


This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity employed by our client.


Key Responsibilities:

  • The role of the Project Manager is to act as a professional business partner to the architects and interior designers both internal and external to drive the design intent inline with project deadlines, budgetary requirements while managing stakeholder engagement.
  • The Project Manager will make a contribution to achieving the vision and objectives of the client by assisting in providing strong project management skills.
  • Utilising all the available support services, the Project Manager will ensure the projects are managed within the clients procedures in an accountable and transparent way.
  • The Project Manager may also provide contract administrative and negotiation support where required.
  • Overall responsibility for the design project management and resourcing of projects, tuning projects to ensure quality project outcomes.
  • Directly responsible for the project management and resourcing of key projects.
  • Collaboration with the leaders of the technical and design streams and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and mitigating project risks and escalating where necessary.
  • Providing strong client service, enhancing quality of client relationship.
  • Operating as the central point of contact with client on all projects.
  • Preparation and updating of project documentation and reports.
  • Monitoring project budget, cost and disbursement tracking for invoicing to client.
  • Management of documentation flow, review, approvals, and sign-off processes.
  • Identifying skills needed on projects and assisting in facilitated training.
  • Organisation of and attendance at project meetings and workshops as necessary and minute taking and report writing to meet demanding client standards.
  • Information / data collection and analysis of project and studio analysis.
  • Management of scope changes, fee variations and project issues.
  • Working independently on specific projects reporting back regularly to the Management Stream Leader.
  • Maintenance of project delivery within budget.
  • Control of financial management of projects, including resourcing.
  • Management of project risk within the parameters established by the client
  • Ensuring rapid conversion of revenue into cash with the timely and accurate preparation and issue of invoices to clients and collection of debts


Design Project Manager Experience:

  • Professional degree in Architecture with 10+ years of total experience, and at least 5 years managing projects in the GCC.
  • Experience in new build and refurbishment of high profile hospitality projects is essential.
  • Capable of communicating with Clients, and Contractors on large and complex projects.
  • Able to manage full coordination between multiple disciplines and subconsultants in different locations.
  • Familiarity with Local Building Regulations and Authorities including International Building Codes and Life Safety requirements for building design as well as an understanding of local requirements is a must.
  • Experienced with modern techniques in building construction as well as standard construction methods in the region.
  • Will be involved in daily contact with the Client and/or Representative and must follow through with managing the workload of the team as well as invoicing and payment from the Client.
  • Excellent written and oral skills are required.
  • Ability to use some of the following: AutoCAD, Sketch up, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
