Environmental Engineer - Construction Consultancy

Our global Engineering consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced consultant Environmental Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, KSA at a high profile project. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Environmental Engineer on large scale civil construction projects in KSA and the wider GCC.


This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the oversight environment compliance of all projects either during planning, design and engineering work performed with regard to ongoing planning and development projects and programs, including, but not limited to land/site development/redevelopment, transportation, and public works.
  • Develop Environmental management processes , procedures & guidelines for all projects
  • Assesses existing Environment and resilience initiatives; reviews or assists in the design/planning/review of future initiatives related to these subjects.
  • Documents portfolio and program investments in environment and resilience.
  • Coordinates technical and administrative activities with internal discipline leads and external groups working on these initiatives.
  • Facilitates an interdisciplinary and systems-wide approach to sustainability and resilience; aligns analysis of commercialization, programmatic, security, environmental, and other independent objectives.
  • Establish a network of expert resources from existing stakeholders, investors, vendors and local academic resources
  • Create or enhance an existing/anticipated asset inventory to serve as a benchmark for environment or resilience goals.
  • Address established goals throughout the program lifecycles including conceptualization, implementation, delivery, portfolio maintenance and divestment.
  • Work out with portfolio and program to set up environmental targets and review them regularly
  • Recommend an optimized the design scheme to achieve economic development , effective life cycle cost while minimizing environmental ,safety & health risks.
  • Verify energy consumption , water consumption and loses ,
  • Develop Hazardous and non-hazardous waste management guidelines
  • Develop Water, wastewater and storm water management guidelines
  • Ensure the environmental philosophy of the WORK, which dictates the environmental standards to be met.
  • Work along with the portfolio and programs to implement Environment Impact assessment prior execution to ensure.
  • Implement Sustainability Metrics and Life Cycle Cost (LCC) criteria for investment options and evaluation of technical and commercial bids/quotations.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations;
  • Meeting and exceeding standard development practices in KSA, and adjusting global best practices to be suitable for program regions;
  • Participate in Value Engineering sessions.
  • Supervision, training and mentoring of junior engineers
  • Create or enhance an existing/anticipated asset inventory to serve as a benchmark for Environmental KPIS’s
  • Develop internal Environment related policies/standards; collect a library of resources relevant to these policies, defining and sharing with stakeholders as needed.
  • Develop Hazardous and non-hazardous waste management guidelines
  • Ensure the environmental philosophy of the WORK, which dictates the environmental standards to be met.


Environment Engineer Experience:

  • Min 15 Years’ experience
  • Environmental / Sustainability Engineering or relevant field
  • LEED AP, Estidama Professional or equivalent certification will be preferred
  • Experience with Environmental Management, Environmental Impact Assessment, Design and Construction, experienced in HSE Management or other relevant fields.
