GIS Infrastructure Engineer - Consultancy - 6 Month Contract

Our International Engineering consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced GIS Infrastructure Engineer to join their team in Dubai to work on new Infrastructure, Power & Water projects. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a GIS Infrastructure Engineering working on major Infrastructure, Power & Water Projects in the UAE.

This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 6 month fixed term contract position employed as an outsource employee through J10 Consulting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Have strong knowledge in spatial analysis.
• Perform DTM management and expert knowledge in ArchGIS, 3D analyst and spatial analyst.
• Perform desktop route delineation for Infrastructure, Power & Water projects using GIS data like ortho imagery, DTM and Vector maps.
• Preparation of reports for desktop studies, data management and accuracy assessment.
• Perform site survey and collect data from field using GPS, measuring tapes and satellite image.
• Carry out study and design work utilising GIS and spatial database technologies, applying design methods, standards and data, to a high quality and in accordance with Project requirements.
• Strong knowledge of map projection and coordinate transformation
• Knowledge of linear referencing.
• Knowledge of image processing and triangulation adjustments
• Knowledge of supervised and unsupervised image classification techniques.
• Ensure that Client’s Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Procedures are complied with
• Provide GIS assistance and capabilities to other disciplines, and participate in review meetings, in accordance with Project requirements.
• Develop, review, and take responsibility for the accuracy of deliverables to which assigned
• Ensure that work is checked (including self-check) and appropriately approved, and is completed within schedule and budget
• Be vigilant for, and advise respective Manager, of any deficiencies and possible improvements to the established Client design methods, standards and data and of possible fields for technical investigations, developments and computer programs
• Support internal development and continuous improvement activities as required.
• Data capturing, CAD to GIS data conversion
• Topographic and utility infrastructure survey data processing
• Create and analysis spatial data using ESRI ArcGIS mapping software
• Topology creation, advanced editing and conversant with data management tools
• Identify conflicts using image and available data
• Knowledge and experience in Georeferencing
• Create cartographic maps considering basic layout elements
• Produce reports on geographic data utilising data visualisations
• Data model support and compliance

GIS Infrastructure Engineer Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geomatics / Civil Engineering / Geoscience /Mathematics
• Minimum 10 years of experience at least 5 years in the same role
• Experience with infrastructure design practices
• Experience in ArcGIS desktop (Pro is a plus)
• Attention to detail and commitment to deliver high quality work
• Excellent written English skills enabling report writing and proof reading
• Preferred experience of GIS, with some experience in Infrastructure, Power & Water projects
