Group Finance Director - Construction

Our Tier 1 Civil Contracting client has a new requirement for a seasoned Group Finance Director to join and lead their team in Dubai, UAE. Successful candidates will have strong construction finance leadership experience (+20 years) for budgets exceeding AED 1 billion annual coupled with in-depth knowledge of financial strategies and construction specific business concepts.


This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity employed with our client.


Key Responsibilities:

As the Group Finance Director, you will play a strategic role in shaping the financial landscape of our client organization. Your responsibilities encompass financial strategy development, performance analysis, risk management, compliance, and team leadership. You will work closely with the CFO to drive financial excellence and provide critical insights to guide the company's future.

  • Accomplishes finance human resource strategies by determining accountabilities; communicating and enforcing values, policies, and procedures; implementing recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counselling, disciplinary, and communication programs; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation strategies;
  • Develops finance organisational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; establishing functional objectives in line with organisational objectives;
  • Establishes finance operational strategies by evaluating trends; establishing critical measurements; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change;
  • Develops financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; developing action plans;
  • Monitors financial performance by measuring and analysing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances;
  • Maximizes return on invested funds by identifying investment opportunities; maintaining relationships with the investment / banking community;
  • Reports financial status by developing forecasts; reporting results; analysing variances; developing improvements;
  • Updates job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations;
  • Work with the CFO to develop and execute the financial strategy of the company;
  • Oversee all matters related to accounting and finance;
  • Manage the annual planning process and long-term business planning;
  • Ensure internal controls and related processes;
  • Analyse the financial impact of business decisions;
  • Manage cash flow and financial risk;
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase profitability;
  • Evaluate potential acquisition opportunities
  • Develop financial models to assess new business initiatives and expansion opportunities;
  • Determine financing, investment, and asset management strategies to maximize return on capital;
  • Recruit, train, and mentor staff;
  • Manage the annual audit and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry reporting;


Group Finance Director Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • Proven experience in financial leadership roles, including strategic planning and team management.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, risk management, and investment strategies.
  • 20+ years of recent senior financial management aligned with experience with companies generating annual revenue of more than AED 1 billion in the construction industry;
  • Knowledge of construction specific business concepts such as bonding, lien releases, and job costing;
  • Experience with consolidated financial reporting of multiple entities;
  • Demonstrated exceptional skills in leading, coaching, communication, organization and decision making.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and work in a fast-paced environment;
