Head of Mechanical Design - Consultancy

Our Multi National Engineering Consultancy client has a new requirement for a seasoned Head of Mechanical Design to join their team in Dubai to work on high profile mix use projects including high rise hotels, residential and commercial developments. Successful candidates will have a proven background as an Associate / Prinicpal Mechanical Design Engineer for large scale mixed use projects in the GCC and must have a recognised engineering consultancy or supervision consultant background

This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.

Key Responsibilities:

• This critical role will be responsible for Heading the Mechanical design process on large scale mixed use projects. Applying sound engineering principles in the development of design solutions and the production of contract documentation.
• Overseeing the use of Autodesk Revit tools to present design and engineering solutions for all projects.
• Providing leadership in research, planning, design and development of building engineering systems, by providing guidance and instruction to the Mechanical Design Team.
• Responsible for all aspects of the Mechanical Design delivery on Major projects
• Will lead, manage and take ownership of the Mechanical Design team engaged in accurate and quality driven delivery of various projects
• Communicates and coordinates with all Disciplines and Stakeholders on a daily basis, and when required the ability to coordinate with other Global offices.
• Understanding of budgeting and supporting requirements for project / bids
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise directly with Clients, Statutory Authorities, and other 3rd parties as required.
• Demonstrates ownership qualities, for the team quality, and the timely delivery of projects
• Sound understanding of other related building design disciplines
• Keeping all project related documentation in compliance with client systems, processes, and procedures.
• Anticipates challenges and project risks and recommends necessary mitigating measures, and where necessary relates these internally to Commercial Team and, externally, to Client/Client Representatives..
• Supervising and leading the Design Team to perform engineering evaluations, feasibility studies, conceptual and final designs, cost estimates, and engineering calculations.
• Holding ownership of preparation and documentation of calculations, complete with support references to codes and standards, ensuring the information is scanned and located in the project folder under the correct project number for future access by a member of staff located in any of our client offices.
• Conducting reviews of engineering options and evaluations to validate the robust nature of new products and design solutions.
• Providing leadership in problem solving at a project level and encourage the use of innovation.
• Working with the Senior Directors to ensure sufficient project resources to deliver the services.

Head of Mechanical Design Experience:

• Bachelor or Masters in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 15 years post undergraduate experience
• Proven related professional experience in a recognised consultancy company or Tier 1 PMC
• Experience of working on large scale mix use projects
• Strong REVIT skills in addition to the usual Mechanical design programmes.
