Horticulture Engineer (Mangroves) - Consultancy

Our Multi National Design & Architectural Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Horticulture Engineer to join their team in Dubai to work on major new masterplan, marine landscape & restoration projects in the UAE and wider MENA region. Successful candidates will be a qualified horticulturalist with drive and ideas about restoring and delivering major marine flora, mangrove and coastal marina habitat projects in the region.

This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire permanent role employed by our client.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement mangrove horticultural plans for restoration and new project delivery.
• Conduct soil tests and analyze plant health to determine necessary care and treatments.
• Propagate and cultivate plants, including seeds, seedlings, and cuttings.
• Monitor plant growth and health, identifying and managing pests and diseases.
• Design and maintain irrigation systems to ensure optimal plant care.
• Collaborate with landscape architects and other professionals to create aesthetically pleasing environments.
• Educate staff and the community about marine horticultural practices and plant care.
• Keep accurate records of plant growth, treatments, and maintenance activities.
• Maintenance Planning And Execution:
• Ability to prepare and execute maintenance schedules and plans for marine and coastal habitats including mangroves.
• Capable of preparing weekly, monthly, incident, and condition survey reports.
• Must be knowledgeable of current landscape practices and how to best implement it on the project.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and team members.
• Monitor routine maintenance and progress on reported deficiencies and ensure that maintenance is of good standard that ensures the viability and continued success of the installation and that issues are reported and addressed.
• Resource management (manpower and materials).
• Management of suppliers of materials for timely delivery.
• Control and manage manpower, machinery, and material to achieve optimum efficiency.

Horticulture Engineer Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering or Landscape Architecture or related field.
• 10-12+ years of related experience in restoration projects and new project delivery
• Experience in coordinating the design process and successfully managing multiple stakeholders, consultants and sub-consultants in restoring and delivering new marine horticulture projects such as Mangroves and coastal habitats
• Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
• Strong knowledge of the local Flora, Marine & Coastal Flora and Habitats of the UAE.
• Required Managerial & Leadership Skills:
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Meet with clients on a regular basis to ensure work is carried out.
• Proven ability to perform in a site supervision role.
