HSE Director - Consultancy

Our global Engineering consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced consultant HSE Director to join their team in Riyadh, KSA at a high profile project. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a HSE Director on large scale civil construction projects in KSA and the wider GCC.


This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs and administers specific functions of the HSE program for the company.
  • Creates, evaluates, educates, and administers the HSE program deployment on projects.
  • Conducts surveys, evaluations, inspections, and investigations of incidents and activities; communicates findings to appropriate entities within the organization.
  • Creates and effectively delivers HSE training.
  • Manages a large team of HSE professionals, including delegation, optimal deployment of resources, and development of staff skills.
  • Partners with the organization's senior leadership to ensure alignment of the HSE functions to the business objectives; creates organizational level strategies to support safety programs for employees and customers.
  • Refines working knowledge of HSE programs by applying HSE procedures.
  • Directs and supervises the activities of subordinates including HSE Managers and HSE Coordinators.
  • Participates in auditing and enforcing HSE standards.
  • Processes and manages workers' compensation claims
  • Prepares, maintains, and retrieves records, reports, or documents that may be required to meet corporate or regulatory requirements, including monitoring application of HSE standards.
  • Promotes HSE awareness and fosters this awareness throughout the company, project or office.
  • Promotes the IFE culture between clients, co-workers, and subcontractors.
  • Participates and provides input on regional and national Skanska issues and subcommittees.
  • Participates and provides representation in local, external HSE organizations as well as outreach within local construction industry forums.


HSE Director Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering? with minimum 10-15 years working experience within health, safety and environment policies and procedures in construction projects
  • At least 5 years previous experience working in the Middle East with a Tier 1 Consultancy
  • Hold a BSc / MSc or equivalent health and safety qualification
  • Hold an environmental qualification IEMA, NEBOSH Environmental or NVQ 5 Diploma or equivalent
  • Have an internal / external auditing qualification, ISO 45001, 14001 or 9001
  • Chartered Member of a professional body i.e. IOSH, IIRSM or SocEnv.
