Mechanical Engineer - Consultancy - 6 Month Contract

Our International Project Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Mechanical Engineer with experience in leisure and entertainment and / or offshore projects to join their team in Dubai / Dammam (KSA). Successful candidates will have strong Mechanical Engineering experience working on offshore or theme park projects and ideally have worked for a recognised PMC / Consultancy business.


The project is located in KSA, visa, accommodation and transport in the Kingdom with be provided by the client.


This role is available for immediate joining and is for an initial 6 month fixed term contract as an outsourced employee through J10 Consulting.


Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Systems Design:

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams to design mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and utility distribution systems, for offshore facilities.
  • Ensure that designs meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Equipment Specification:

  • Review, specify and suggest mechanical equipment, such as pumps, compressors, generators, and HVAC units, based on project requirements and performance criteria.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and efficiency.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Prioritize safety, ensuring that all mechanical systems and equipment comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans for mechanical installations.

Energy Efficiency and Sustainability:

  • Promote energy-efficient designs and sustainability practices within mechanical systems, including the integration of renewable energy sources and energy recovery systems.
  • Optimize system designs for environmental efficiency.

Technical Oversight:

  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of mechanical systems, ensuring that they meet design specifications and performance expectations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during construction and operation.

Maintenance and Reliability:

  • Develop preventive maintenance schedules for mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and replacement of components, to ensure operational reliability.

Budget Management:

  • Prepare and manage budgets for mechanical engineering projects, tracking expenditures and ensuring cost control.
  • Work closely with procurement teams to source equipment and services within budget constraints.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including mechanical system drawings, specifications, and maintenance records.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for project stakeholders and regulatory agencies.

Vendor and Supplier Management:

  • Evaluate, select, and manage mechanical equipment suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
  • Monitor vendor performance, adherence to specifications, and contractual obligations.

Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Implement quality control processes to verify that mechanical systems and equipment meet design specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct inspections and quality assessments as needed.


Mechanical Engineer Experience:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering. Minimum BSc
  • You will have demonstrable experience of delivering projects from concept through completion in a multi-disciplinary and/or multi-office project execution environment for a recognised consultancy in the GCC
  • You will be an experienced user of Mechanical design software
  • At least 12 years of prior experience in the FEED, EPC as well as front end part of the engineering development for onshore and offshore projects.
  • A can do, hands on approach, able to work well under pressure and prioritize workload to meet project needs
  • Willing and quick to adapt to project/team needs and learn from experience
