MEP Design & Delivery Manager (Hospitality Projects) - Consultancy

Our Project Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced MEP Design & Delivery Manager to join their team in Abu Dhabi, UAE to work on hospitality projects in the Emirates. Projects will be a mix of fit out, refurbishment, extension and new build within the hospitality sector. Successful candidates will have a proven background as an MEP Design & Delivery Manager on large scale Fit out & refurbishment and mid size base build hospitality projects in the UAE or wider GCC. Candidates MUST have worked for a recognised Consultancy company previously.
This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.
Key Responsibilities:
Within this role you will be expected to:
- Oversee all the project MEP Design review and control the progress of the all the drawings, including project positioning, feasibility demonstration, conceptual design, architectural design, schematic design, construction drawings; carry out the technical feasibility study and provide basis for the decision-making on the strategical positioning of the whole project
- Manage the delivery of the MEP aspects of the projects which will incorporate an element of retrofit and new build.
- Participate in work relating to important bidding, contract, material review, drawing review, quality review
- Participates and assists in contract negotiations with contractors and consultants as required
- Ensures that the designs drawings and technical specifications are in compliance with the company’s requirements, reports on variances and recommends approaches to bring the design drawing and documents into compliance
- Ensure the design prepared by the consultants is as per the design briefs and withing the cost and quality parameters
- Supervise the quality of construction drawings, check the consistency between the drawings and actual construction, solve design-related issues at construction site, handle major technical problems
- Manage the design scheme and cost control during the preliminary phase of the project
- Prepare technical evaluation of consultant tenders
- Prepare project documentation including meeting minutes, drawings, tender documents, and budget approval request, etc.
- Liaise and coordinate with external consultants, contractors, suppliers
MEP Design Manager Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in large scale fit out and refurbishment projects and mid size base build projects is required
- Experience in Hospitality projects is essential
- Requires a comprehensive knowledge of construction related processes, as well as industry practices
- Requires excellent written and oral English communication skills
- Familiarity with software packages typically associated with MEP Design
