MEP Resident Engineer - Consultancy - 3 Month Contract

Our International Project Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced MEP Resident Engineer with experience in leisure and entertainment projects to join their team in Abu Dhabi. Successful candidates will have strong project leadership and FIDIC Contract administration experience working with a a recognised PMC / Consultancy business.


This role is available for immediate joining and is for an initial 3 month fixed term contract as an outsourced employee through J10 Consulting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Generally responsible for implementations and monitoring of all mechanical electrical and plumbing related works at site as per approved drawings and methods and safety rules ensuring all activities are well planned and coordinated.
  • Review and processes all MEP related engineering submittals (shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, etc.) for the Project.
  • Interprets construction / shop drawings and studies the contract documents and applicable standards or specifications prior to execution of any jobs.
  • Manages directly and provide engineering and technical supports to the Project leader at site.
  • Reviews, supervises and inspects the Works at site by the Contractor and undertakes the necessary action to rectify any non-conformity.
  • Submits all applicable monitoring reports on regular basis or as required.
  • Ensures that all the works done are in accordance with the approved construction drawings, contract documents, project specifications, and all applicable standards whether local, national or international standards.
  • Attends regular meetings with the client and other disciplines to provide update on project progress.
  • Pre-resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems at site that may arise at any time.
  • Coordinates contractors in preparing the daily progress reports.
  • Able to lead site personnel (inspectors and surveyors) to execute and completion the job on time.
  • Identify problems in design and proposes solutions.
  • Review the Engineering submittals (shop drawings, etc.) and ensure the timely approval progress as per agreed schedules.
  • Plan, organize review and evaluate the work of contractor and others.
  • Coordinate and liaise between the MEP and other Subcontractors. Communication and interfacing between structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, procurement and any other services to ensure the proper technical execution of project works as per the requirement of the Client and the obligations of the Contractor.


MEP Resident Engineer - Experience:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Project Management. Minimum BSc
  • Fully conversant with the FIDIC suite of contracts and or other ad-hoc forms.
  • Professional qualification/ chartership is a plus, such as PMP, CIOB, RICS, PRINCE2 certification.
  • Exception stakeholder management and authority liaison skills.
  • A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in Design/ Engineering with at least 4 years of experience in project/ construction supervision and management.
  • Understanding P6, MS Projects and other planning tools
  • Strong capability in project controls (scheduling, cost reporting, forecasting, variation management etc).
  • Strong eye for detail coupled with a methodical and organized approach;
  • Strong supervision and contractor management skills are pre-requisite
