Planner - Contractor - 5 Month Contract

Our Multi National Contracting Client has a new requirement for a well experienced Project Planner for base build and high spec interiors projects to join their team in Abu Dhabi, UAE working on a high profile residential project. Successful candidates will have experience as a Planner / Planning Engineer on base build and interior projects including high spec residential projects.
This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 5 month contract position, outsourced through J10 Consulting.
Key Responsibilities:
The Project Planner is responsible for setting, monitoring, and managing the project schedule in close co-ordination with the Project’s management. The planner works at or close to site, allowing close liaison with client and fellow vendors schedulers and the Project team. The project planner works closely with the internal and external team to become an integral support for the success of the project.
- Assist in developing and maintain the master schedule for the project, ensuring all activities, resource allocations, events and milestones are included
- Take control and responsibility for the master schedule, ensuring that key dependencies are highlighted, and changes are quickly incorporated
- Liaise with client, general contractor, and fellow vendors’ Schedulers to highlight any upcoming concerns and flag those to the Project’s management team
- Liaise with the Project’s management team to ensure sufficient resourcing and highlight any peaks and troughs of resource that may need managing or smoothing
- Identify where more effective use of resource can be made, adjusting as needed
- Report on the schedule, highlighting any trends, concerns, opportunities, and improvements
- Highlight any concerns for inclusion in the risk register
- Maintain documentation and report on progress, risks, and anomalies, alerting the Project’s management team to deviations from the schedule
- Build strong working relationships with the team, the client team, and fellow Schedulers from vendor teams to ensure clear communications and positive interactions
- Capture projects learns and contribute to the post project review process and where required contribute effectively to any EOT and delay claims
- Ensure the maintenance, management, and communication of the schedule to keep the project flowing and free others to focus on other tasks
- Confidence in the schedule, able to withstand challenge and to demand adherence, and just as ready to adapt and ask for help and clarification when unsure of the right course of action
- Understand the schedule impact on potential Variation Orders and help put together relevant documentation where necessary
Project Planner Experience:
- B.Sc degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- 4+ years of proven experience in handling project plans and schedules
- Certification in planning and scheduling of projects and in using Primavera applications (Primavera Project Management / P6) preferred
- Proficiency in planning software, such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in base build and high spec interiors projects is preferred
- Understanding of planning frameworks and collaboration processes
- Project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of local regulations and standards
