Project Director (Museums) - Consultancy

Our Multinational Engineering consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced consultant Project Director to join their team in Abu Dhabi at a high profile Museum project. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Project Director on large scale civil construction projects in the UAE and the wider GCC. Preference will be given to candidates having relevant experience in Museum and large scale cultural heritage projects. Only candidates from a Supervision Consultancy background will be considered.
This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handles workload of Major Project of multi disciplinary team and collaborates with counterparts to drive the project forward
- Consolidates information gained from working collaboratively across multi-discipline projects with others at a similar level in different parts of the Region, with the purpose of providing input towards the development of the business plan for the Region.
- Influences the development of the Project plan in collaboration with all key stakeholders in a mega project development.

- Develops, implements and improves operating policies, processes and procedures for own business area drawing on knowledge of local legislative requirements, global standard methodology requirements (in a highly legislated or regulated environment and across multiple Business Groups).
- Consolidates and prioritises solutions developed across different projects and clients, and leverages these for the benefit of the broader Region and beyond.
- Approves the application of new/novel solutions or technologies, designs and applications / service offerings to solve complex problems in response to changing market trends and competitor activity.
- Draws on knowledge of area of experience and global standard methodology to tackle unique and highly complex problems that may be unprecedented within a Business.
- Technical Lead for a high profile / complex / multiple field project, being responsible for all phases of the project
- Technically sought out both within and from external national and/or international clients / industry bodies to act as a trusted advisor. Actively contributes in thought leadership as an industry leader (typically through papers published / regular conference speaking engagements).
- Responsible as part of a Region's leadership team for talent and succession planning to ensure current and future capability to deliver on business plan for a large or complex Region.
- Accountable for managing people on a day-to-day basis and deploying resources; typically is responsible for performance evaluation, training and development of team, employee engagement, salary review recommendation and approval, and staffing / resourcing decisions.
- Communicates and contextualises Region strategy and goals for a complex Region.
- Decisions are guided by organisation strategies and Region business plans and objectives; receives guidance and direction from General Manager - Region or Market Leader - Business. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations
Project Director Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field
- Certified Project Management Professional status or member of equivalent institution
- Successfully led numerous complex, large scale Project Management &/or Construction Management programmes across a range of Client types and multi-disciplinary teams
- Possess 15+ years' experience in delivering fully coordinated, multi-disciplinary Project Management and Construction Management projects in the capacity of Senior Project Manager or Project Director
- Demonstrable experience in successfully delivering a fully coordinated Project Management and Construction Management projects using the latest engineering design and collaboration tools, including BIM
- Worked for an international consultancy for around 5-8 years and over 5 years of my experience has been in the Middle East
- The ability to converse in technical matters across all disciplines associated with our Project Management and Construction Management projects
- Preference will be given to candidates who have relevant experience leading complex Museum and Cultural Heritage projects
