Project Engineer (MEP Utility Systems) - PMC

Our Global Project Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced consultant Project Engineer specialising in MEP Utility Systems to join their team in NEOM, KSA at a high profile Infrastructure & Build project. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Project Engineer for MEP Utility systems on large scale building infrastructure projects ideally within KSA and/or the wider GCC.
This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.
Key Responsibilities:
The Project Engineer – Off-Site MEP Systems will perform both technical and administrative roles, coordinating MEP related delivery requirements with the Utilities-MEP team and other program entities as required. The Project Engineer will provide site support in conformance to project standards and specifications; assist with cost measurement, evaluation, and audit of contractor and consultant payment applications and variations; ROM estimating for infrastructure and facility works; risk analysis and claims, cost controls, scheduling, and other activities supporting the planning, execution and delivery of program works. This role requires the knowledge of MEP systems to be used during construction and engineering activities, as well as the understanding of methods and techniques used by installation contractors. This role will be actively involved in both pre- and post-contract phases and requires the post holder to have experience in both phases. Also, willingness to relocate to construction site locations is required.
- The Project Engineer may produce and/or compile or assist in completing any one of the following using analytical tools and techniques:
- Prepare periodic reports, summarizing progress of engineering related (pre- and post-) contracts activities to line manager, including presentations.
- Provide engineering and support activities for Utilities-MEP work packages from conception to completion/ handover within areas of responsibility.
- Assist with design reviews (constructability), material submittals, shop drawings, etc. to maximize project efficiency, maintain schedules, and meet budgetary goals as appropriate.
- Use sound engineering practices to attain required quality control, maximize efficiency & minimize cost.
- Monitor, coordinate and control the flow of MEP design information to ensure the timely release of information for construction activities, in accordance with MEP Delivery strategy and contract type.
- Assist in preparing tender document scope of works and assist in supply chain development.
- Assist with tender returns, including RFC/ RFI responses and tender assessments during the project stages.
- Review contractors’ submittals, including programmes, progress reports,
- MEP test plans, method statements and risk assessments, assisting with workshops for comment resolution.
- Review/ comment on NCRs (non-conformance reports) and corrective action reports.
- Assist the CM with data collection and input, monitoring, and management required for Off-Site warehousing and pre-loading assembly areas, using project provided management software.
- Assist the CM and the Testing & Commissioning team, providing engineering input to ensure quality control requirements are attained, including acceptance testing (factory, site, routine, etc.).
- Monitor MEP document quality produced by the contractors.
- Attend construction team meetings as required.
- In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the job holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by their line manager from time to time, outside the normal sphere of work as may be reasonably requested.
- The job holder will be required to undertake such flexible and additional working hours as may be necessary, within reason, to facilitate the efficient fulfilment of the duties required by position.
Project Engineer (MEP Utility Systems) Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering (or construction-engineering management).
- Minimum 6 years professional experience and 4 years direct experience in engineering consultancy and construction of large-scale MEP projects is required, with the ability to demonstrate experience in project management & pre-contracts phase of major projects.
- Diversified knowledge of Utilities-MEP and Systems engineering, and construction related processes and industry practices.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills within a business environment.
- Ability to operate in fast paced and pressured environment, while being able to maintain clear decision making; capable of working within a multi discipline team and across multiple interfaces.
- Construction experience from inception through to finishes/fit out would be preferred.
- Saudi Arabia experience preferred.
