Project Manager - MEP Maintenance

Our Regional Property Management consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Project Manager for MEP Maintenance Projects to join their team in Abu Dhabi. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a PM for MEP Maintenance Projects on large scale and high profile Facilities Management projects in UAE and the wider GCC and have worked for a recognised Service provider or management consultancy previously.
This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity employed by our client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the MEP department to ensure departmental objectives are met.
- Manage MEP team to ensure sustained performance by ensuring motivation via professional development, coaching, mentoring and performance orientation.
- Define department service strategy and manage internal and external resources to comply with company/Client commitments.
- Ensure MEP department activities are carried out to the required or exceeding Client’s technical requirements and following most demanding international quality standards in the field of practice. Maintain knowledge of the overall construction processes and operating practices in the GCC and assist the project team by providing knowledge of the prevailing MEP codes of practice, regulations, and specifications, in order to provide innovative, cost effective solutions to Clients.
- Manage company’s risks (in relation to missing technical information for existing properties) in the designing and execution or any MEP projects and solutions provided to the Clients.
- Review, comment and decide on MEP design including drawings and technical specifications in order to ensure efficient, cost effective designs that comply to regulatory requirements.
- Provide the planning input for MEP works, monitor & coordinate all MEP issues with other project team members including engineering and procurement to ensure utmost integrity and functionality of all elements are duly maintained and report regular on the progress to all stakeholders.
- Review, participate and assist the project team in value engineering exercises and in selecting proper constructability methods based on safe design and functionality as well as supporting the project team in obtaining NOC’s from Authorities if required.
- Identify and quantify maintenance works required on all sites in coordination with operations department and prepare tender documents for comprehensive maintenance work as required. Develop, review and implement MEP methodology for different MEP services, including but not limited to Conditions Assessments, Handovers, testing and commissioning etc. to ensure service quality levels are met and consistent.
- Monitor the performance of contractors / subcontractors with regards to MEP aspect to ensure compliance with the relevant standards and specifications.
- Engage and coordinate with internal Client departments to support them in any MEP related demand.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Direct Manager
Project Manager - MEP Maintenance Experience:
- BSc. Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial or equivalent engineering degrees
- MSc. degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 15 years of experience in MEP building projects in designing, execution, testing and commissioning.
- Of this minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP department with business unit responsibilities in the UAE.
- Minimum 5 years supervisory, managerial experience.
- Strong knowledge of MEP Systems
- Excellent English - oral & written is essential
- Proficient in MS Office
- Knowledge of risk assessment and contingency planning
- Strong planning/scheduling skills
- Very good communication skills (verbal/written/presentation)
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple project
