Quantity Surveyor - Main Contractor - 3-6 Month Contract

Our Tier 1 Main Contracting Client has a new requirement for a well experienced Quantity Surveyor (Post Contract) to join their team in Dubai, UAE. Successful candidates will have extensive post contract Quantity Surveying experience on civil construction projects including mid / high rise residential, commercial, mixed use and retail building projects. Only candidates who have worked for a recognised main contracting company previously will be considered
This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 3-6 month contract position, outsourced through J10 Consulting.
There is an option after 6 months to transfer to client staff to suit all parties
Key Responsibilities:
- To administer all contractual matters pertaining to the Main Contract and Subcontracts and to keep the project Manager appraised concerning such contractual matters.
- Measurement and proper settlement of subcontract accounts in accordance with company procedures and provisions of the Contract.
- Ensuring timely submission of interim valuations and expediting timely receipt of certificates and payments.
- To liaise with proposed nominated subcontractors, prepare risk analysis for management review.
- To carry out measurements as per the relevant method of measurement under the Contract where applicable.
- To prepare disruption schedules, claims schedules contacharges etc. as necessary in conjunction with the Project Manager & Commercial Manager
- To ensure all relevant contractual notices are submitted in accordance with the Contract in conjunction with the Project Manager & Commercial Manager.
- To identify, quantify and motivate for payment in terms of the Contract all variations between Tender and Contract documents
- To identify and prepare all claims for extension of time and additional expense in conjunction with the Project Manager & Commercial Manager.
- To prepare revised Contract forecast and monthly performance reports in conjunction with the Project Manager & Commercial Manager.
- To reconcile actual bulk material quantities against Tender and Contract documents
- To participate in meetings with the Project Manager & Commercial Manager with Consultant, Subcontractors, etc. in pursuance of commercial and contractual matters
- To assess ‘Risk’ items in BOQ or drawings and advise on remedial measures.
- To offer assistance to progress development within the Commercial Department.

- Complies to all applicable Management Systems (Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental, etc.) in his area.
- Working on SAP. Entry sheets for subcontractor's certification, release of PR etc
- Procurement of domestic subcontract packages from sending enquiries, review, negotiation, all paper works to finalizing.
- Procurement of nominated subcontract packages from the receipt of Engineer’s Instruction to Finalizing the works
- Assist in estimating the new project such as sending enquiries, follow up, paper works, sending pre tender queries to the Engineer, updating the vendors, working on selling price etc.
Quantity Surveyor Experience:
- BSC in Quantity Surveying from a recognised institution preferred
- Experience in post contract and sub-contract procurement works on low-mid rise and civil construction projects
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with at least 1-2 years’ UAE, experience in recognised main contracting companies
- Knowledge in the use of QS and SAP software is required;
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
- Possess good project background and proven English language technical writing ability and skills
