Senior Draughtsman (Arch / ID) - Contractor

Our Regional Main Contracting client has a new requirement for a well experienced Senior Draughtsman to join their team in Dubai working on new Civil Build and Interior Design / Fit Out projects. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Senior Draughtsman working on similar project typologies involving Architectural, Interior Design & Joinery / Fit Out works in the UAE and have relevant contracting company background for recognised contracting companies previously


This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity employed by our client.


Key Responsibilities:

Plays a key role in the design and construction process by translating design concepts into technical drawings and documents that can be used for building and fabrication. Their work bridges the gap between the creative vision of interior designers and the practical execution by subcontractors, site team, and joinery manufacturers

  • Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings using software like AutoCAD, Revit, or SketchUp.
  • Create 3D models, renders and animated walkthroughs.
  • Prepare architectural floor plans, RCP, elevations, sections, and detailed views.
  • Review Architectural & IFC drawings, BOQ, scope of work and prepare:
  • Drawing schedules and updating them throughout the project.
  • Finishing schedules and updating them throughout the project.
  • Door schedules, including ironmongery and fire requirements.
  • Be familiar with specifications for materials, finishes, furniture layout, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and electrical components.
  • Follow drafting standards, such as line weights, symbols, and notations.
  • Ability to create designs from a scope or verbal instruction to accompany tender submissions.
  • Create detailed drawings, such as wall sections, stair details, and bathroom tile layouts.
  • Extract components, such as metal elements, glass, ironmongery, stone and create individual drawing packages for subcontractors to price or manufacture.
  • Create as-built drawings that reflect the final version of a completed project.
  • Follow regulatory guidelines were applicable, such as pool design, boundary restrictions,
  • Prepare Architectural drawings for Authority Approval.
  • Coordination with Design Team
  • Work closely with the client, interior designers, architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure drawings reflect the design intent.
  • Work with structural, electrical, and mechanical subcontractors to coordinate plans and avoid conflicts.
  • Accuracy and Measurement
  • Ensure precise dimensions, scaling, and proportions in all technical drawings.
  • Use site measurements and data to reflect actual site conditions.
  • Carry out site surveys. (if required)
  • Documentation
  • Assist in preparing construction documentation packages.
  • Maintain/organize project files, schedules, and specifications. Ensure all documentation & information received from the main contractor, suppliers, client, authorities, consultants & subcontractors are all filed as per the Drawing department procedures. 
  • Document RFI’s/CVI's & clarifications, update drawings and distribute drawings as required.
  • Support During Construction
  • Ensure sharing of all information is well-received and acknowledged by the project team.
  • Attend progress meetings internally and on site (if required) to ensure the technical drawings are produced effectively and approved within the contractual time


Senior Draughtsman (Arch / ID) Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Architecture, Interiors or Civil
  • Minimum 5-8 years overall experience.
  • Strong proficiency in producing detailed Architectural, ID, Structural, and Joinery working drawings, As-built drawings.
  • Previous experience of working in a recognised Contracting Company previously
  • Excellent English comprehension
  • The ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Software, Excel, Word, Sketchup, AutoCAD, 3D Max, Revit, Lumion 
  • Produce Drawing and finishing schedules
