Dry Utilities Design Engineer - Consultancy - 6 Month Contract

Our International Engineering consultancy client has a new requirement for well experienced consultant Dry Utilities Design Engineer to join their team in Dubai to work on high profile Civil Infrastructure and Masterplan projects. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Dry Utilities Design Engineer for large scale projects in the GCC and have a proven track record of working in a recognised design or engineering consultancy company


This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 6 Month contract position employed as an outsource through J10 Consulting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Experienced in data collection and validation. Prepare concept to detail master plan in terms of utility corridors, ROW, Utility plots space allocation in coordination with wet utilities, roads, architects, master planners, and other disciplines
  • Strong infrastructure background with previous working experience with infrastructure projects.
  • Load demand estimation, MV and LV network, ICT, telecom network, and street lighting network design from concept, detail, and IFC stages.
  • Power network design for 33kV, 11/13.8kV and LV network, including substations, LV distribution equipment, ducts, manholes, etc.
  • Prepare /Review clarifications to Contractor RFI’s, review/approve any key technical submittals related to electrical and dry utilities
  • Manage and guide CAD technicians
  • Comply with company QA/QC procedures and implement them effectively in the design. Responsible for the review and taking ownership of the deliverables produced. The safety in the design, identifying the risk and mitigation, and design assumptions are all registered and recorded.
  • Work coactively with the design team, and collaborate closely with other disciplines ensuring their requirements are fulfilled.
  • Provide design support during the construction stage.
  • Perform interdisciplinary reviews and provides coordinating data to ensure a compatible design.
  • Review and monitor the production of drawings to maintain quality and accuracy
  • Support the development of the technical capabilities of the CAD team
  • Able to manage multiple teams with diverse backgrounds on geographically and culturally diverse teams
  • Attend team and project meetings. Cascade information to the team as required
  • Identify improvements (where possible) to enhance service to the clients


Dry Utilities Design Engineer Experience:

  • Minimum BEng in Electrical engineering
  • 5-10 years of Experience with at least 2-3 working in recognized Engineering Consultants
  • In-depth knowledge and strong understanding of Dubai/Abu Dhabi/UAE authority guidelines, standards, and specifications
  • Experienced and skilled in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, BIM, etc.
  • Experienced in electrical software like Amtech, ETAP, DIALux, and other lighting and power system software
  • Chartered Professional(C.Eng.) or working towards Chartered, and holding professional license /certification preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
