Senior Mechanical Engineer - Consultancy

Our International Engineering consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Consultant Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Riyadh to work on a high profile new project in Riyadh, KSA. Successful candidates will have a proven background as an Consultant Mechanical Engineer working on major new build projects in the Kingdom and wider GCC. Only candidates with a track record of working for recognised supervision consultants or PMC Companies will be considered.
This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent role employed directly by our client
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and commenting on Contractors, sub-contractors or specialists drawings,
- Specifications, method statements, temporary works, proposals, designs etc., for compliance with designs, drawings and specifications.
- Monitoring materials incorporated within the Works for compliance with requirements.
- Inspect the works on site to see that they are being built generally in accordance with the Contract drawings and specifications and also with good engineering practice.
- Witnessing and monitoring of any relevant tests or trial assemblies undertaken by the main contractor or others. Witnessing tests of equipment and systems incorporated within the works.
- Inspection of samples and test areas produced by the main contractor or others.
- Issuing of Site Instructions.
- Providing advice and clarifying Specification requirements.
- Providing advice and responding to requests for information from the main contractor and others.
- Commenting on/assisting with the Contractors Record Vouchers, Daywork Sheets, Confirmation of Instructions etc.
- Providing advice to the Contract Administrator on payments and approvals to the Contractor.
- Providing advice to the Contract Administrator on the need for special investigations or tests.
- Liaising with the Contract Administrator, site staff from other Consultants, and Building Control.
- Defining areas of defective workmanship or materials.
- Monitoring working practices on site for compliance with agreed procedures and safe methods of working. Checking for safe storage of materials on completed areas i.e. overloading etc., and for adequate protection of equipment etc., prior to completion of the works.
- Maintenance of comprehensive record system including site diary, weekly reports, instructions etc.
- Reporting at site meetings on matters relating to designed or specified elements of the site works.
- Liaising with the Public or Third Parties as required.
- Prepare snagging lists of defects in conjunction with the contractor and agree dates for completion.
- Have an understanding of the Business Plan, mission statement and key challenges.
- Attend team meetings and play an active role in the development of procedures within the project team and the RE team.
- Apply policies relating to health & Safety, quality and training
- Be aware of the design philosophy and engineering principals for the project. Receive a comprehensive briefing from the project engineer before starting on site.
- Have an understanding of the buildability aspects and construction techniques applicable for the project.
- Carry out a cross reference check of all documents including specifications and drawings and bar bending schedules (if applicable).
- Assist the design team with the co ordination of the engineering particularly when it applies to site matters
Senior Mechanical Engineer Experience:
- BSc Minimum in Mechanical Engineering
- 7-10 years of experience
- Proficient in BIM software in addition to usual design softwares
- In-depth knowledge of local design standards and working experience with local authorities technical and legal requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years KSA and regional experience at least 2 with a recognised Design or Supervision Consultancy Company
- Registration with Saudi Council of Engineers is highly advantageous
- Prior experience of major new build projects including; high rise, residential, commercial and hospitality projects is essential
- Strong stakeholder and client management skills in a client facing role
- Experience of working with internal, external and remote design teams is highly advantageous
