Senior Project Manager - PPP Schools & Healthcare Programme

Our multi-national Engineering consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Senior Project Manager to join their team in Doha, Qatar. Successful candidates will have extensive Project Management experience on large scale PPP projects including Education & Healthcare facilities.


This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent employment opportunity.


Responsibilities:

  • This is a key position within the Core Team and shall work closely with the Engineer and the Building Projects Department (BPD) Core team members to manage, monitor and coordinate the performance of the CMU, Project Companies and the Contracting Authorities on the PPPAs in order to ensure that targets are being met and progress is being delivered for the Projects; and through the development and management of influential executive level relationships, this position is designed to enable collaboration and achieve practical outcomes for the CMU
  • Overall responsibility for CMU Service delivery;
  • Provides leadership for the CMU Team;
  • Develops and updates the delivery strategy / operating model for CMU as required;
  • Provides regular progress reports to the Engineer;
  • Key point of contact for external stakeholders;
  • Manages key stakeholder relationships;
  • Plans and delivers regular stakeholder update meetings;
  • Ability to make impartial priority calls and determine appropriate course of action, dealing with many different stakeholder views;
  • Promotes CMU externally to the public / other Contracting Authorities;
  • Leadership of complex contract negotiations (strategy and execution);
  • Facilitates and manages a transition of responsibility from the consultant staff to the PWA staff as agreed with the Engineer;
  • Identifies, develops and promotes Programme and Project required policies;
  • Leads and attends relevant meetings; and
  • Plans, implements and manages training to the PWA staff. 


Senior Project Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Project Management, Engineering and/or other related fields.
  • Specialised experience in PPP Programme Management and Project Management or similar type projects/programmes
  • Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken.
  • Minimum of 20 years’ experience post graduation with 10 years’ experience in major buildings PPP projects or programmes;
  • Experience of working on schools and primary healthcare projects;
  • Contractually astute Programme Manager or Project Manager;
  • Refined people management and leadership skills needed to build and develop an engaged and high performing team;
  • Desirable to have experience in working with and within government agencies or clients side generally at a senior level;
  • Demonstrable track record in the management and delivery of multiple concurrent projects;
  • In-depth knowledge of PPP procedures and processes;
  • A “rounded profile”, with experience of leading multidisciplinary teams and securing successful deliverables;
  • Effective in building good working relationships within complex structures, both internally and with various project stakeholders.

Desirable requirements

  • Evidence of suitable professional qualification, PMP or equivalent is preferable;
  • Experience of working in Qatar and / or the Gulf region;
  • Experience in leading a PPP CMU or other post award PPP projects.
