Senior Quantity Surveyor - UPDA Grade A (QS) - Consultancy

Our Global Engineering consultancy client has a new requirement for well experienced consultant Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Doha, Qatar on high profile new projects. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Quantity Surveyor for large scale projects in the State of Qatar. Only Candidates holding UPDA / MMUP Grade A as a quantity surveyor accreditation will be considered for this role as per the clients request.


This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.


Key Responsibilities:

To be successful, you must be a qualified UPDA / MMUP Grade A registered Quantity Surveyor, with a minimum 10 years’ post graduate experience, contributing to a diverse range of projects such as large residential, commercial, educational, medical/hospital and infrastructure developments. You will also:

Pre-Contract

  • Carry out take-offs for material quantities from drawings and prepare BOQs accordingly
  • Management of bonds, insurances and guarantee logs
  • Risk & value management and cost control functions
  • Prepare progress and cost reports
  • Utilize various forms of contract and support contract administration
  • Prepare budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation
  • Report any commercial issues to Tendering & Pre-Construction Project Manager
  • Maintain contract documentation and advise on post contract matters

Post Contract

  • Experience in international contracting forms, FIDIC or FIDIC based bespoke forms
  • Review Bills of Quantities in a timely manner
  • Reviewing and issuing recommendations for the contractors and consultants monthly payment certificates
  • Pricing of new varied items
  • Liaising with clients, contractors and package suppliers.
  • Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
  • Preparing assessments on new changes for the client before the change takes place.
  • Preparing and assessing all documents as per the change management process.
  • Provide assistance in verifying claims, payments, variations, addendum, extension of time contractual issues.
  • Provide lessons learned from the cost, financial, and procurement processes to improve the approach to delivering projects.
  • Middle East experience and a working knowledge of design and construction practices specific to this region is a must.


Quantity Surveyor - UPDA / MMUP Grade A Experience:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience and at least 3 in a recognised International Consultancy
  • Chartered status with RICS will be viewed favourably
  • UPDA / MMUP Grade A as a quantity surveyor is essential for this role.
