Site Landscape Architect - Consultancy - 3 Month Contract

Our Global Engineering consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Site Landscape Architect to join their team in Abu Dhabi, UAE to work on a high profile project. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Site Landscape Architect on large scale civil construction and beautification projects in the UAE and the wider GCC.


This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 3 month fixed term contract as an outsourced employee through J10 Consulting.


Key Responsibilities:

The Site Landscape Architect is expected to carry out the responsibilities specified below and as delegated by the Resident Engineer. The Landscape Architect provides support and assistance to the Resident Engineer during project construction and receives support and assistance from Project Design Team

  • Lead the Coordination process between disciplines
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in performing the contractual duties on site.
  • Provides resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinates application of solutions to ensure progress on site.
  • Advise the project manager of any technical aspects of the architectural work that may affect construction progress, quality and the like.
  • Continually review the contractor's construction schedule during the progress of site works.
  • Determines aesthetic design and practical technical solutions for the planning of external spaces including hardscapes, softscapes, streetscapes etc. Works would cover urban planning, public open spaces and parks, leisure facilities etc.
  • Reviewing, and coordinating construction packages including managing construction details for all built forms within the external works packages to be designed in coordination with the relevant engineers prior to contract documentation.
  • Review softscape detailing including the design and specification of all plant materials, planting medium, preparation of the site, contours & grading and control of all horticultural practices for installation works.
  • Review construction submittals from project inception to close-out.
  • Review Contractor's installation method statements.
  • Review Contractor's shop drawings against the design [tender] drawings for compliance with the design intent and return to project manager with appropriate comments / approval.
  • Review contractor's shop drawing in conjunction with other engineering disciplines to ensure co-ordination and advise project manager accordingly.
  • Review Contractor's material proposals against specified technical performance requirements and advise the Project Manager on the appropriateness of the proposals.
  • Review Contractor's proposed sub contractor(s) associated with the engineering works from a technical standpoint.
  • Monitors material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.
  • Undertake general project site observation / inspection of the works for Contractor's adherence to the approved shop drawings and Consultant's specification, good working practices, the construction schedule and health & safety.
  • Be available to undertake off-site inspections of proposed equipment and materials as may be deemed necessary by the Project Manager.
  • Lead the snagging and de-snagging process with an aim to progress the works to completion through this process.
  • Attend project, site progress and any related technical meetings as directed by the project manager.
  • Prepare draft site / engineer's instructions, relating to the project, as required and issue to the Project Manager.
  • Provide advice to the Project Manager in regard to any variation costs that may be claimed by the Contractor during the course of the works.
  • Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for the construction supervision works and monitors it for improvement.
  • Collaborates with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees.
  • Reviews and interprets discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current re vision level and correct technical execution of the work. 
  • Performs works inspection requests and material inspection requests as required to support juniors.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.


Site Landscape Architect Experience:

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture or related field.
  • Min of 7 years postgraduate experience and a min. of 3 years of similar work experience on large projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to resolve design issues on site.
  • REVIT and BIM360 skills.
  • Good knowledge of the building codes.
  • Regional experience is preferred.
  • Authority registration is preferred.
  • A professional who can manage and coordinate specialized activity, discipline or team of moderate size and complexity.
  • UAE Driving Licence
