Specifications Writer (Interior Design) - Design Consultancy

Our Multi National Design Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Specification Writer to join their team in Dubai, UAE to work on high profile ID projects in the Emirates. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Specification Writer with experience in Architectural and Interior Design projects in the UAE and the wider GCC. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked for recognised PMC or Consultancy companies previously
This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write, edit, coordinate, and produce Interior Design outline specifications for material qualities and properties, utilizing knowledge of material standards, construction processes, or manufacturing procedures at various stages of the interior design project from Schematic Design, Detailed Design to Final Design.
- Interpret interior design plans and prepare material lists and specifications to be used as standards by contractors related to building construction activities.
- Review drawings and other documents to enable writing and editing architectural specifications per industry standards established by CSI Master Format.
- Conduct product research, including review and evaluation of product literature, manufacturer’s company profile, testing and material standards, building (international and local codes, and sustainability rating systems (Estidama, Green Building and LEED) as necessary to ensure that materials and methods are appropriate for each project.
- Interpret project design requirements and translate those requirements into materials, methods, equipment, procedures, installation, and testing necessary to provide specification narrative descriptions which are used to procure, install, and erect building components.
- Collaborate with project architects, managers, and designers in product and material selection. Perform materials, product and finishes research.
- Coordinate with design teams and consultants and assist with material and system constructability analysis.
Specification Writer Experience:
- 3-5+ years of experience in an Architectural Design firm with a focus on specifications writing (NBS, CSI)
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, diploma in architectural technology, or another construction-related field.
- Organizational, project management, and planning skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks
- An analytical mind with excellent problem-solving ability.
- Demonstrate ability to organize and coordinate projects.
- Ensure adequate knowledge of specifications to annotate drawings correctly.
- Ensure adequate English to ensure correct spelling and grammar on all documentation.
