Structural BIM Technician (UPDA Grade A) - Consultancy - 12 Month Contract

Our International Engineering consultancy client has a new requirement for 2 well experienced consultant Structural BIM Technicians to join their team in Dubai to work on high profile mix use projects. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Structural BIM Technician for large scale mixed use projects in the GCC and have worked for a recognised consultancy client. Candidates must also hold UPDA Grade A certificate from Qatar.


These roles is available for immediate joining and is an initial 12 month contract as an outsource employed by J10 Consulting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with BIM Lead and Design Leads to ensure the projects compliance with the given policies and processes and to ensure timely implementation and completion
  • Works with BIM lead Design Leads and Engineers to develop engineering drawings consisting of basic arrangements layouts flow sheets assemblies isometrics component details from rough sketches and or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures and to ensure timely implementation and completion
  • Understand BIM modeling process and able to manage all BIM related activities from project start up to project completion
  • Review each drawing for readability presentation and adherence to standards in accordance to company QA QC process
  • Good knowledge in content creation and able to create different types of parametric and non-parametric families
  • Strong knowledge in LOD requirements
  • Collaborate and communicate with other disciplines on coordination issues and model development tasks
  • Good knowledge of Autodesk Navisworks with experience of clash detection and producing clash report
  • Able to produce scheduling and quantity extraction from the model
  • Able to work independently and develop structural drawings and 3D Structural REVIT models in all design stages based on basic sketch input / mark-ups from a Structural Engineer.
  • Support Project Engineer on a day-to-day coordination with other disciplines.
  • Responsible for the correctness and accuracy of own work and the work allocated and done under his/ her supervision on a particular project.
  • Understand and implement document control procedures for drawings.
  • Able to plan drafting team workload efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Capable of creating BIM families and do clash detection using Navisworks.
  • Expert in the use of the latest editions of AutoCAD and REVIT Structures software.
  • Must be able to understand / interpret structural engineering sketches, have a strong understanding of various types of building structures.
  • Attention to detail - be able to check and correct drawings prepared by other team members.
  • Must fully understand and interpret Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing drawings. Be able to create detailed design drawings with the required supporting details
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate


Structural BIM Technician Experience:

  • Diploma or degree in Civil, Design or Engineering
  • Minimum 6 years of recent progressive experience
  • The ideal candidate must have Strong Revit experience modelling
  • Software experience required - Revit Structural / Architectural / MEP - Navisworks - AutoCAD - MicroStation - Common Data Environment - ProjectWise - BIM360
  • Strong knowledge in BIM understand LOD requirements and BIM processes
  • Must hold UPDA Grade A from Qatar Authorities
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English
