Structural Engineer / Coordinator (Structural Steel) - Main Contractor

Our multi-national Main Contracting client has a new requirement for a well experienced Structural Engineer / Coordinator specialising in Structural Steel to join their team in Dubai, UAE to work on new build steel frame projects in the Emirates. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Structural Engineer on steel frame projects in the UAE and the wider GCC and a proven background working in a recognised Main Contracting Company.


This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent employment opportunity.


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure drawings produced by drafting team and sub-contractors are accurate and timely in alignment with the Project
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the study design and specification of requirements for the projects including design briefs design drawings
  • Liaise with architect design consultant and sub-contractors on design intent and technical issues
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the contract documents drawings and specifications phasing plans Structural systems interrelationships construction sequencing and project schedule
  • Ensure all information is current and communicated with Structural project team
  • Assist in the testing and commissioning of Structural equipment 
  • Prepare design documents, shop drawings & write specifications.
  • Scrutinize tender drawings, documents and requirements to prepares proposals and RFIs
  • Deals with vendors, suppliers and contractors. Review design needs with suppliers to determine who can provide the best service
  • Consider materials, effects and costs, with suppliers and subcontractors and arrange samples and specs for approval.
  • Prepares necessary drawings for Authorities and Client approval.
  • Prepare working drawings and specifications for construction.
  • Prepares project trackers, weekly progress reports and meeting minutes to be submitted to Client/Consultant
  • Collaborate design with professional and technical consultants (MEP, Structures, ID)
  • Regular site inspections, a close cooperation with the site supervisors and the sub-contractors and an elaborate follow-up with the project manager and the client


Structural Engineer / Coordinator Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience post graduation with experience in engineering
  • Minimum BSc in Civil Engineering, MSc in Structural Engineering preferred
  • Can communicate clearly with consultants in clear hand sketches drawing
  • Attention to detail and expert in reading structural/architectural drawings
  • Strong Coordination skills between disciplines and the drawing office / site supervision team
  • Proven experience of working on / delivering steel framed buildings with a main contracting company background
