Technical Manager - Consultancy - 6 Month Contract

Our International Project Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Technical Manager with experience in leisure and entertainment projects to join their team in Dubai / Dammam (KSA). Successful candidates will have strong Technical Management experience working on offshore or theme park projects and ideally have worked for a recognised PMC / Consultancy business.
The project is located in KSA, visa, accommodation and transport in the Kingdom with be provided by the client.
This role is available for immediate joining and is for an initial 6 month fixed term contract as an outsourced employee through J10 Consulting.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to establish project goals, objectives, and technical requirements.
- Assist in the development of project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Coordination/ Management of the Engineering activities on Large scale capital projects (Offshore Projects or Entertainment).
- Coordination/ Management with all Lead engineers and designers working on the project to ensure timely Engineering delivery under schedule and quality constraints
- Coordination/ Management of various design reviews, tracking and expediting action close out
- Support PM in Evaluating changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project
Technical Oversight:
- Supervise and manage the technical teams involved in the project, including architects, engineers, and consultants.
- Ensure that all technical work aligns with project specifications and industry best practices.
- Leads detailed design activities during development and execution phase of the project: simulations, design calculations, process optimization, sizing & selection of equipment etc.
Quality Assurance and Control:
- Implement and enforce quality control processes to ensure that technical work meets or exceeds established standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any technical issues or deviations.
Technical Design and Development:
- Review and approve technical designs and plans for various project components, such as buildings, infrastructure, utilities, and systems.
- The candidate should be familiar with engineering software’s and methods (process, design) to ease mentoring.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and zoning requirements.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Identify technical risks and challenges associated with the project and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Provide guidance on risk management and contingency planning related to technical aspects.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Monitor and control the technical portion of the project budget, including costs related to engineering, design, and technical consultants.
- Optimize resource allocation to meet project objectives efficiently.
Vendor and Contractor Management:
- Collaborate with procurement teams to select and manage technical vendors, contractors, and consultants.
- Oversee contracts, negotiations, and performance evaluations for technical service providers.
- Prepares technical scope of works for sub-contractors & consultants.
- Evaluates technical offers from subcontractors and vendors.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, technical reports, and project records.
- Generate regular progress reports for project stakeholders and senior management.
Change Management:
- Assess and manage changes to the project's technical scope, ensuring that any modifications are properly documented and approved.
Sustainability and Compliance:
- Promote sustainability practices in the project's technical aspects, including energy efficiency, environmental compliance, and green building certifications.
- Ensure that the project adheres to all relevant regulations and permits.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among technical teams, project managers, and other stakeholders.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for project-related inquiries and issues.
Problem Solving:
- Address technical challenges and issues that arise during the project's lifecycle, providing innovative solutions to keep the project on track.
Technology Integration:
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and innovations related to real estate development and construction.
- Evaluate and recommend the use of new technologies to enhance project efficiency and quality.
Technical Manager Experience:
- Degree qualified in Engineering or related. Minimum BSc
- You will have demonstrable experience of delivering projects from concept through completion in a multi-disciplinary and/or multi-office project execution environment for a recognised consultancy in the GCC
- You will be an experienced user of engineering software
- At least 15 years of prior experience in the FEED, EPC as well as front end part of the engineering development for onshore and offshore projects.
- You will have a solid background knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software, with ability to carry out coordination through Revit.
- Preference will be given to a Chartered Engineer with IStructE (or working towards it).
- A can do, hands on approach, able to work well under pressure and prioritize workload to meet project needs
- Willing and quick to adapt to project/team needs and learn from experience
